DAY 2 : DOGSLEDDING AND HOT SPRINGS

The first night will be a late one, so we have a later start on the second day. It starts just after lunch where we will spend the afternoon with a dog sled team, taking pics and trekking around, and you can even guide the sled yourself.

After a snack we’ll soak in the Chena Hot Springs where you can sit in the naturally fed hot spring pool and marvel at the stars or potentially even the Aurora Borealis.

Accommodations: The cosy Minnie Street Inn, Fairbanks

DAY 3: RAILROAD AND FLIGHTSEE DENALI

We start early and you will hop on the Aurora Winter Train of the Alaskan Railroad and can kick your feet up for the scenic journey from Fairbanks to Talkeetna. This highly treasured journey is well hosted by the railroad and they fill you with interesting history of the state and environment throughout the trip.

We’ll spend the afternoon outside on cross country skis, looking around for creatures and checking out the winter wonderland.

Accommodations: the beautiful Out of the Wild Cabins, Talkeetna

DAY 4: SNOWMOBILING AND MOUNTAINEERING PRESENTATION

After a delicious breakfast at the Talkeetna Roadhouse, we will head down to Trapper Creek to snowmobile through the wilderness. On a clear day the view of Denali will be spectacular throughout the trip. We’ll be sure to have cameras ready!

The afternoon will be pretty chill. After a nice lunch we will head back to Talkeetna and wrap up the day with a variety of outdoor activities and a presentation from a mountaineering legend on what it takes to scale the peaks of Denali.

Accommodations: Out of the Wild Cabins, Talkeetna.

DAY 5: SNOWSHOEING IN HATCHER PASS

On Day 5 we will be strapping on snowshoes to explore the scenic trails of Hatcher Pass and visit the historical gold mine. When we’ve filled our cameras and our bodies need a recharge, we’ll keep heading south. A visit to a musk ox farm where musk ox are raised for their wool, will provide a fun glimpse of a rare native Alaskan creature. Finally, we will travel to end the day at the Alyeska Resort.

Accommodations: Premiere Alyeska Resort with Chateau-Style Hotel and Aerial Tram, Girdwood.

DAY 6: CAINES HEAD TRAIL AND WHALE WATCHING ON THE KENAI PENINSULA

March is a migratory season for grey whales so we will make our way down the Kenai Peninsula to see if we will be able to see them hanging around Resurrection Bay. Before we board though we will have a few hours to explore the Caines Head Trail which is home to many bald eagles.

Accommodation: Premiere Alyeska Resort with Chateau-Style Hotel and Aerial Tram, Girdwood.

DAY 7: WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CENTER OR TONY KNOWLES COASTAL TRAIL FOR MOOSE

On the final day we will choose between visiting the recovering and rehabilitated wildlife at the Wildlife Conservation Center or snowshoeing on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to see if we can find moose.

The tour will wrap in the afternoon at the Flying Machine Cafe in time for everyone to make their flights.
